If you’ve peaked at a business journal lately, or picked up the business section of the Star Tribune, you know that working from home verses going into the office is still being talked about by employers and employees. And it doesn’t appear the conversations will end soon.
If you’re able to work from home, are you set up for fueling good energy and productivity in your workspace? People who focus on Feng Shui, the practice of arranging the pieces in living spaces to create balance, tell us our desks and offices are connected to our careers. If this is true, investing in structure, good design, and functionality will give you a good return.
There are many home office designs and great remodeling ideas that when implemented, will support productivity and creativity. There are also many choices for custom home office cabinets and built ins for storage and organization. As a home office contractor and remodeler, we’ve got a lot of ideas on how to bring them together. Here are four of them:
- Build a designated desk that is customized to meet your needs.
A designated desk brings stability to your work. Working at the dining room table or on a card table in the basement doesn’t give you a good foundation for supporting and building your career. We can remodel a bedroom or a section of your basement and turn it into the perfect office, along with a custom-built desk that will be a foundation for your success. - Incorporate built-in shelves and cabinets.
Multi-purpose shelving takes the clutter away that surrounds you. It also provides a place to display the items that bring you joy, like family photos, awards, and other things that have meaning to you. Our construction foreman/production project manager is also a cabinet maker and woodworker. His ideas are endless, and there are many options for cabinetry and built-ins that will look great, while providing storage, and maximizing your space. - Bring in the light.
Shed some light on your home office environment by increasing the size of your windows. Natural light makes spaces appear bigger, and the sun’s rays support good health and well-being. Make sure to build your desk to face the window, so you can see outside and maybe catch a fly-by bird or butterfly. Facing the outdoors will also prevent light from hitting your computer screen. - Choose a paint color that brings you energy, positivity, and happiness.
Yellow is known to bring energy into a room because it simulates the sun. Green, yellow and pink are the colors of happiness, and blue is inspiring, healing, relaxing, and sparks creativity.
